Rachel + Eric

Posted by: davidejackson at 9:26 pm

Saturday’s initial weather forecast called for sunny and 70′s. As it turned out, it was cloudy and in the low 40′s. But it didn’t stop Rachel & Eric from throwing an amazing wedding!

The wedding was held at the SC Grand in Depere and the ceremony was actually outside in a heated tent. Despite the cool weather, the day went without a glitch. I’ve actually known Eric for a short time before the wedding, being a regular customer myself at Cedar Creek Meets. Not only does Eric work there, but he ended up meeting Rachel on the job. Rachel’s parent own the joint, and he was fortunate enough to date the bosses daughter!

Special thank you goes out to Amy Gaerthofner of Ardent Photography for helping Rob and I throughout the day! It was great to finally shoot with her!

Below are some shots from the day! Like I said, Rachel is a truly beautiful bride…

Karissa (and Jack – a former senior shoot client from 2006) drove all the way from Dubuque, Iowa today for her senior location shoot. I was so excited to get out and shoot today! The weather was hands-down perfect, minus a chilly breeze, but it was so refreshing to do a one-on-one location shoot for a change. It was good to see “The Jack Feldman” again and hang out with Karissa for the evening. Although Rob and I were exhausted from staying up entirely too late last night culling through Rachel and Eric’s wedding photos from the night before, we crammed in a ton of locations in the two short hours we shot. Below are some highlights!

PHOTONERD NOTE: The shot looks like it was either lit with off camera lighting or a reflector, but nay. The building three blocks away, directly behind me was casting this amazing glow from the sun. Using and reading light where ever it is found, is key!

PHOTONERD NOTE: Shot at Rob’s house, outside his garage. We stopped to get his reflector. Shot with a Reflecta-Sol reflector. Backlit by the sun.

PHOTONERD NOTE: Wescott Apollo 28-inch softbox. Sunpak 383 Super at 1/2 power. Camera left. ISO 100, 1/250th shutter, f/2.8, 85mm 1.8 lens. Triggered with Pocket Wizards.

OH YEAH, here’s a teaser from Saturday’s wedding. Rachel and Eric had one killer wedding. Man, is she gorgeous! More soon!

Having traversed 5 cities, along with one wedding and a launch party, I shot four engagement shoots and still managed to keep my sanity. Wow. What a crazy week! Here are a few shots from the drop.

My launch party on Friday was a ton of fun! I think we ended up with more-or-less 300+ people in and out all night long. I have to give many thanks to Ken Vandyacht and the staff at the Grand Meridian for hosting this awesome event! The food amazing. Everything was perfect. Thanks also go out to The Joe Tones for doing an incredible job with the music.

Thank you to everyone that came out this Friday! It meant the world to Melanie, Rob, Adam and I…

I have nothing but love for my family and close friends Josh and Amy Johnston (Ryan and Jenna too!) for making the trip to spend the entire weekend with us here in Appleton. After a few late nights and an amazing brunch today, everyone sadly headed back home.

We rounded out last night by hanging out at the campfire we had in our driveway, sharing a ton of laughs. I even had a chance to set up my gear to grab some shots of the Johnston’s and my nephew Matthew, in the street in front of my house.

Ryan got in on the fun too!
