Jeff & Katie – 35mm redux!

Posted by: davidejackson at 9:25 pm

Rob has a true-to-life darkroom for processing B&W film. (For those of you who don’t know what film is, it a a flimsy piece of plastic that loads into an old camera that is typically found in a canister. You actually have to use a thing called a light meter and it’s not possible to see the results on the back of the camera.) Well, Rob and I shot 35mm film at Jeff & Katie’s wedding last weekend. Rob processed the film at home. Nope, we didn’t run to a one-hour lab. Rob did it himself. I’ve once again found the true excitement of shooting 35mm again! Not to mention I picked up a bunch of REALLY expired 35mm film at Shooting Star Photo and got my hands on some expired Elite Chrome at Rob’s house tonight. I can’t wait to shoot it all up!

Below are two hands-down AMAZING shots Rob took while shooting on location. The shots look odd, as a result of the D76 film developer solution missing some of the film emulsion. I think these would look KILLER printed to canvas!

Jon Canlas…. EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!!! I love you buddy! I should have listened…. Film Is NOT Dead. See you in Hawaii? OK, I’ll settle for Chicago..

As I’m sitting here at the campfire in my driveway waiting for Rob and Adam to show up, all awhile enjoying a night off of business schtuff, I can’t help but think that I’m blessed to roll with an AWESOME crew of dudes..

..and I came across these from our trip to Vegas.

Thank you Mac Photo Booth!

Enjoy!

Love this shot! Taken right after the ceremony..

I attract abandoned houses, regardless of where I am…

The color in the details owned..!

Rob and I loved this reception with all our hearts!!

Gotta love this. Wonder if it’ll land on their Myspace??

NOW THIS…… is how you roll with the Chicken Dance…

RECIPE: Simply add one Best Man, a goofy chicken hat, nice lighting and mix generously with a huge circular mosh pit…

The ball game outside the reception.. 11-0, Peosta.

Jeff & Katie – 35mm redux!

Posted by: davidejackson at 9:25 pm

Rob and I are in Peosta/Dubuque, Iowa shooting Jeff and Katie’s wedding. After a rather loooooong day of intense shooting, we have found ourselves having a few cold beverages, culling today’s photos and enjoying the bliss of not wearing uncomfortable footwear.

The wedding was awesome! We have been surrounded by good people and unfamiliar surroundings. We shot at some killer locations today, including an abandoned animal infested house, a state park overlooking the Mississippi River, a laundry mat, Potter’s Mill and out on the streets of Dubuque.

I’ll have some photos up later this week, as it’s time for bed. We have long drive ahead of us in the morning, not to mention two other photo shoots tomorrow. Below are a few out-takes from the weekend thus far.

Our hotel in Peosta. We’re rocking the basement level!

The digs. Almost as big as Melissa Laggis’ and Amy Johnston’s room in Vegas … almost.

Location shooting.

Rob rockin’ the OneLight.

More soon..!

Jeff & Katie – 35mm redux!

I’m off to Iowa for a “destination” wedding of sorts tomorrow, so I’ve gotta keep it short. Here are some highlights from Bill and Beth’s wedding. I’ve known Bill for sometime now, but have gotten to know him much better over the recent months. They were both very open to location shooting for the couple shoot, which resulted in hitting a SIMPLE+DIRTY location as it was close to their reception at High Cliff Restaurant in Sherwood. Another awesome wedding.

From a horror movie…

The groomsmen.

The Bridal Party.

Some of my favorite preparation shots..

And of course, some outakes. Rob and I have a ton of fun shooting together…

This gong at the ceremony scared the ever-livin’ outta me…

This is the first time I’ve ever seen this… Beth lost her train going down the aisle after the ceremony. This is why I keep Rob around! He is always there, EVERY TIME!

Check out the highlight reel HERE.
