LORAS COLLEGE
As many know, Rob and I spent three days in Dubuque, IA shooting a big commercial project for Loras College this fall. Commercial work has become a passion of mine during the last year and will continue to become a focus of my photography career in the future. Most of the shoot was centered around student life and classroom interaction, but I was really excited to be out shooting more editorial-based portraits with the staff and students.
Most of the editorial shoots were shot with off-camera lighting. Most times, when shooting the college’s professors, we used the ole 28″ Wescott Apollo softbox. These were usually done within a 2-5 minutes time frames following a scheduled student-oriented shoot. Shooting editorial portraits can be tough, given the cramped schedules, limited shooting space and the necessity to gain trust in a limited amount of time.

We also shot some student portraits, using more off-camera lighting.

White seamless came out. We had the most awesome space to shoot in. And UPS… they bent the roll. RAAAAAGE! But we made it work.

USE NATURAL LIGHT!

Behind the scenes.

And this is the gear I have to contend with on a shoot.
