GUANAJUATO & CORTAZAR, MEXICO

Posted by: davidejackson at 10:47 pm

This blog post and the one following has been a long time in the making. Early on in November, I traveled to Guanajuato and Cortazar, Mexico to shoot my brother-in-law’s wedding. Having been buried in the sawdust and paint of creating a functional studio space, I have finally found time to post some photos from our trip.

The entire experience was simply enchanting. Much of what is perceived about Mexico via the media is no more than a facade, giving way to a country rich with culture, humanity and amazing people. No, we weren’t visiting resortland Mexico. We traveled to the center of the country to experience it all. We had a ton of fun and family camaraderie over the course of five days, no photos could ever show it’s true color.

The drive into Guanajuato City from Leon.

Guanajuato in the evening.

Day Two… after mas tequilla!

Scraping gum off the trees in the morning.

A local protest on current economic conditions in Mexico

Mexican Katrina dolls..

Melanie and I overlooking Guanajuato City.

Crazy. A downhill mountain biker practicing on the stairs leading down to the street level. It took us 45 minutes to walk down.

Mexican gordita breakfast. Simply amazing food.

Doors and Walls. I was intrigued by the color and texture surrounding us in Guanajuato. I couldn’t help myself.

More wedding photos coming soon!

    Dave,
Awesome pictures. I need to dig out all of my mexico pictures. My family is from Yuriria, GTO. All of guanajuato is beautiful. I’ve contemplated moving down there and doing photography but hey time will tell.
It’s true about the color appeal.. us mexicans have no sense of color coordination, or mix and match haha.
