A LOOK AT 2012 :: What The Hell Happened??

011

At this time last year I blind-sided Trevor with a lengthy blog post gushing over his awesomeness, celebrating him as my main dude helping me steer this ship into unknown waters. I think his comment to me after seeing the post filled with 487 photos of him was, “Saw the blog post! Thanks dude! Now don’t ever do that to me again..” As much as I would love to do a repeat of last year’s wrap-up I feel like this year is more about our often times ugly, dysfunctional family of a team. Besides that, I think both Adam and Trevor shared their thoughts rather well and accurately described the way we operate and the true feelings they have for the “machine”.

Last night Melanie and I put the kids to bed and we talked a little about the last 365 days of our life and the struggles we faced together as a family and the accomplishments we made, both personally and as a small business owners. In total honesty, we cried. Heck, we cried a lot. I think for no other reason than to be thankful for the life we were given and the challenges we must face every day to keep it all delicately glued together.

Truth be told, I constantly balance the love for following my dreams and supporting my family with a camera with the frustrations of being on the brink of total burn out. But I look at it as our life’s new direction. This is the plan handed to us by a higher power. We may not have all the answers, and God only knows there will be plenty of trying moments ahead, but as a creative family we push on into the future with bright eyes.

My family and business life may not retain the perfection of a Norman Rockwell painting, but when you strip it all away to the core you will find we are driven by faith, integrity, passion and most importantly… love. It’s all I could ask for. And if this all goes away tomorrow I can sleep well knowing we all gave it 100% every damn day. These folks believe in me. That’s the most amazing feeling. And for that, I am truly grateful to have them in my life.

Melanie, Trevor and Adam…. I love you guys.

I decided to keep this post simple and wanted to take a look at 2012 in all of its glorious chaos. This was our craziest year yet and I’m still trying to figure out what the hell happened…

Enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM JACKSON & CO! Here’s to 2013!!!

Extra special thanks to Jason Lekberg, Krista Hansen and Gerald Mortensen for repeatedly keeping us on our toes and making sh*t happen! You rule. And thanks to all the friends, family and clients that have hired us, believed in us, kept us alive, shared your lives with us , given us a place to stay and put up with our seemingly endless crap over the past year… You are all amazing.

And to Dan Woolf… Thanks for the goat head. Really. Amazing.
